Circulating Tumor Cell Assay

Detection of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) by immunocytochemistry in the peripheral blood is an independent prognostic marker for multiple types of cancer, including breast and colorectal. The detection and characterization of circulating tumor cells in the peripheral blood is an important pharmacodynamic endpoint in clinical trials.
